Of course I have to comment. This is my opinion it really shouldn't shape the world. It's just an opinion. BUT someone somewhere believes everything they read is a fact... moving along....
My father is a pastor, I politely texted him this morning and said "If you have a scandal get rid of it don't shame me." I meant that shit.
Bishop Eddie Long is human. We are all human. Some people are mad at him for loving God and being homosexual. I have no issue with that. Every man in the gospel choir has some sugar in his water. No one wants everyone to know everything about them. Yet we don't respect peoples privacy because we seek validation in the flaws of others... I do this too so don't get self righteous and say you don't.
I'm not upset with him being homosexual or a man of God. I'm upset because people judge so much without compassion or love but then they are worse than the things they judge. He and several other ministers preach these sermons of hell fire and damnation about homosexuals and lust and sex outside marriage BUT they're doing those things. If you are gay be gay. The people who love you will love you no matter what. I have so many associates that refuse to admit their homosexuality... DUDE you lose so much credibility with this "straight" front. If you want people to trust you and respect your opinions you should be honest not only with yourself but with the people around you. We know you're gay and we still love you so why not tell us.
A very close friend of mine was in denial for years and one day he just looked at me and said "You know I'm gay right" and I laughed and said "I was waiting for you to notice". NOTHING in our relationship changed. I love him more for his honesty than I ever did when he was "straight". For me this Eddie Long situation is just that. Don't condemn others and tell people how to live we all have flaws. I don't understand why people try to hide HUGE aspects of their lives from people they love.

I do think it's wrong that the Bishop abused his power, but how many successful men have exploited ignorant women for sex, no criminal charges. The people "exposing" the Bishop's homosexuality are trying to hurt him. I don't agree with the abuse of power, I also don't agree with people trying to intentionally hurt others for financial gain. At the end of the day everyone is wrong. So why not be understanding and compassionate? Don't ask me I try everyday and fail.....
i wonder if you realize that this man is a Bishop and is thus held at a higher standard that Others? have you read the bible sister? He's the one preaching against sin yet he's secretly indulging in it . in a hypocritical manner at that. one of the worse sexual sins of all at that. you cannot justify what he has done , if he has done it. the bible says all secrets will come to light. Bishop Long has been pimping in the pulpit for too long and God himself is bringing him to shame for his deeds.
ReplyDeleteDid you read what I said?? May he without sin cast the first stone! Lying is just as bad as any other sin and most people lie daily... There is no greater sin. The point of this post was NOT to judge but you missed that clearly.
